Configuring Persona Settings

Customize your AI Employee's name, instructions, tools, and behavior after creation.

Accessing Persona Settings

Open any AI Employee's detail page and navigate to the Settings tab. Here you can modify every aspect of how the employee behaves and what it can do.

Editing Name and Description

The employee name appears on the dashboard, in activity logs, and in messages sent through communication channels. Choose a name that helps your team quickly identify this employee's role. The description field is for your internal reference — it does not affect the AI's behavior.

Adjusting Instructions

The Instructions field (sometimes called the system prompt) is the core of your AI Employee's personality and behavior. The persona template provides default instructions, but you should customize them to reflect your specific business context.

Effective instructions include:

  • Your company's tone of voice — formal, friendly, technical, casual.
  • Specific business rules — "Always check inventory before confirming a sales order" or "Escalate orders over $10,000 to the manager."
  • Domain knowledge — "We sell industrial valves to manufacturing companies" or "Our fiscal year starts in April."
  • Response preferences — "Keep responses concise" or "Always include part numbers when referencing products."

Tip: Start with the default instructions and add your customizations below them. The defaults contain important baseline behaviors you want to keep.

Enabling and Disabling Tools

The Tools section lists every capability available to this employee. Each tool has a toggle switch. Some reasons to disable tools:

  • Restrict write access — Disable "Create Sales Order" if you only want the employee to look up information, not create records.
  • Focus the role — A customer support employee does not need purchasing tools. Disabling irrelevant tools reduces confusion.
  • Security — Disable financial tools for employees that interact with external customers.

Disabled tools are hidden from the AI Employee. It will not attempt to use them and will inform users when asked about capabilities it does not have.

Language and Tone

You can set the preferred language for your AI Employee's responses. This affects how the employee communicates — it will respond in the selected language regardless of the language the user writes in. Supported languages include English, Korean, French, German, and Japanese.

The tone setting adjusts how formal or casual the employee's responses are. Options range from professional (recommended for customer-facing roles) to friendly (suitable for internal team use).

Saving Changes

Changes to persona settings take effect immediately after saving. There is no need to restart or recreate the employee. Active conversations will use the updated settings for all subsequent messages.
